The New Swing Park

by evelynsmith @ 28. 04. 07 - 21:12:01

Mrs Bee had alot to do. Today was the day that the new swing park was to be built at Honeycombe Hill.
As she tied her apron strings round her little chubby waist, Mrs Bee hummed a tune while she busied herself in the kitchen.
She heard the sound of the delivery truck driving along the path .

"Morning!" called the driver. "Delivery for Mrs Bee"
Mrs Bee stepped outside and showed the workmen where everything had to go.

There was a slide, a roundabout, four swings and a climbing frame. There was also lots of sand and a fence.
It was going to be quite a day!

The workmen began digging holes and fixing the climbing frame to the ground with cement. Next, they did the swings and the roundabout.
The Beezles had come to watch the work going on, and the noise from the machinery was making everyone's ears hurt!
Buzzy shouted above the noise "I'M HUNGRY!"
The other Beezles nodded in agreement and they went inside Mrs Bee's shop and sat at a little table.
"Phew" said Zubby "my ears hurt! It's so noisy out there"
Bizzy agreed and said that it would be worth it in the end as they would all have somewhere to play now.
"I can't wait to see it finished" said Bazzil.
"I know!" replied Bizzy "I'm going to ask the workmen if we can help to paint the fence. What colour do you think we should paint it?"
"I say red!" said Bazzil.
"Blue!" shouted Buzzy.
"Hmm. I think yellow" said Mrs Bee. "that way it will stand out nice and brightly for all to see"
Bizzy agreed. "I'm going to ask now!" and she skipped out of the shop towards the workmen.

"Hello" said Bizzy to the workmen. "Can we help to paint the fence?"
"Of course!" said the workman with the blue dungarees. He looked like a jolly man and had a big moustache and red cheeks.
"We will let you know when it's time to start the painting" he smiled at Bizzy.
Bizzy hugged herself. She loved to paint!

Soon the swingpark was complete. The fence went all the way round so that the swings and slide, roundabout and climbing frame were fenced off from the rest of the garden.
The Beezles each had a paintbrush that the jolly workman had given them and they began to paint the fence.
"This is fun" cried Bizzy. "I like the colour yellow. It's like the sunshine"
Mrs Bee smiled. Yellow was indeed a very sunshiney happy colour.

Soon the painting was complete and everyone stood back to admire their handywork. The new swing park looked very grand indeed!
Mrs Bee and the Beezles waved goodbye to the workmen and everyone ran to the park.
Bizzy was having great fun on the slide, Bazzil was on the roundabout, and Buzzy and Zubby were swinging as high as they could.
"Oh thankyou Mrs Bee!" called Bizzy as she whizzed down the slide for the hundredth time.
The swing park had been built with the money from the fete and now Mrs Bee could watch everyone having fun as she worked in her little shop which overlooked the park.

As she sat in her little rocking chair, humming her favourite tune, Mrs Bee felt happy that the Beezles had their very own swing park at last!

Mackenzies Friend

by evelynsmith @ 22. 04. 07 - 23:28:52

Mackenzie was the little boy who lived over the hedge at Honeycombe Hill.
He'd been to the garden on several occassions, but it had been a very long time since he had visited The Beezles.
The last time Mackenzie had visited, it had been to help Chewy, who had fallen down a hole.

Mackenzie was a lovely boy and the Beezles liked him very much. He was their friend and was welcome in the garden any time at all.
Today, Mackenzie was playing with his friend David in the garden outside his mummy's house.
They were playing on the swing and the slide. Then they played a game of football, but soon Mackenzie and his friend got bored.
"What can we do now?" asked David.
"Well" said Mackenzie "we could ask my mummy if it's alright to crawl under the hedge"
"Why would we want to do that!?" asked David.
"Well, it's a secret" said Mackenzie. "wait there till I ask my mummy if it's ok, and then I'll show you"

Mackenzie ran to the house and asked his mummy if it was alright for him to visit the Beezles. His mummy said yes and told him not to be too long.

David waited patiently for Mackenzie to return, and when he did, they set off to the hedge at the bottom of Mackenzie's garden.
"Now you've got to lie flat on your tummy"said Mackenzie, "and then wriggle forwards until you are under the hedge and in the next garden"

David and Mackenzie wriggled and wriggled until they were lying on their tummies in the garden of Honeycombe Hill.

"What's this?" asked David, as he screwed up  his eyes and looked around.
"This is where my friends live, come on, I'll show you!"

Together David and Mackenzie walked a little until the roof of a little pink hive came into view. Then a purple roof, and a yellow roof and a little shop with a thatched roof.
David gasped and stood still,.
"Who lives here!?" he asked Mackenzie.
Mackenzie smiled.
"Well, there's Bizzy, she lives in the pink house, and Zubby, he lives in the lilac house, and Mrs Bee lives in a little room above the shop"
The boys walked to the shop and entered through the little green door.
"Oh hello there Mackenzie!" said Mrs Bee. "Who is this you've brought to see me?"
"This is my friend David" said Mackenzie. "Where is everyone else?
"Oh they'll all be here in just a minute or two no doubt!" Mrs Bee replied.

Mackenzie and David sat down at a little toadstool table and Mrs Bee brought them cookies and milk.
"There now" she said "you just sit there and enjoy those cookies, fresh from the oven, and The Beezles will be here real soon"
"How do you know they will come?" asked David.
"Aha!" said Mrs Bee. "They will smell the cookies that I've just baked and, oh! here they are!"
David looked in amazement as Zubby,Bazzil,Bizzy and Buzzy entered the shop.
"Hello everyone!" said Mackenzie, and the Beezles all gave Mackenzie a hug.
"Hello Mackenzie! who is this you have with you?"
"This is my friend David" said Mackenzie.
"HEllo David" Bizzy smiled at him
Everyone introduced themselves to David, who had suddenly gone rather shy. David could not believe that the Beezles actually lived in the garden under the hedge, next door to Mackenzie's garden.
David thought Mackenzie was very lucky indeed to have such lovely friends living right next door to him.

Everyone sat and chatted for a while until Mrs Bee asked Mackenzie if his mummy knew where he was.
"Oh goodness me!" said Mackenzie. "my mummy said not to be long, we'd better get back or she'll be worried"

Mackenzie said goodbye to his friends, and he and David crawled back under the hedge into Mackenzies garden.
"You are ever so lucky" said David.
Mackenzie smiled to himself and agreed with David.
He was indeed a very lucky boy to have such lovely friends as the Beezles!

Honeycombe Hill

by evelynsmith @ 18. 04. 07 - 20:13:11
Bizzy was cleaning and singing a song
Whilst Zubby was flying and getting it wrong!
Bazzil was sneaking around the oak tree
And Buzzy was whistling so merr- ily!

Uncle McBuzz was at work on the van
Whilst Mrs Bee scrubbed at her pots and her pans
And Chewy was happily reading his book
As Fuzzy came wandering by for a look

The Beezles were happy at work and at play
On Honeycombe Hill where the sun shone all day
The songbirds were singing high up in the sky
As the ladybugs chattered and hurried on by

Each night there's a story for you to enjoy
As you snuggle up tight with your favourite toy
A story for you to cherish and keep
And to dream of at night when you fall asleep!

The Egg Hunt

by evelynsmith @ 04. 04. 07 - 08:46:59

Fuzzy Wuzzy Bunny stretched her arms and yawned. Today she was going to be very very busy. It was Easter Sunday and Fuzzy had two baskets full of Easter eggs to hide in the garden.
She did this every year and the Beezles and their friends had so much fun finding the eggs that Fuzzy had hidden. No-one knew that it was Fuzzy who had hidden the eggs. Everyone on Honeycombe Hill believed that some magical thing had happened and that the eggs had appeared by themselves!

Mrs Bee would chuckle each year as she watched her little friends hunting high and low for an egg, and then squealing with delight when they found one.
Only Mrs Bee was in on the secret that Fuzzy was the one hiding the eggs.
Fuzzy was afterall the bunny in the garden. That's why her name was Fuzzy Wuzzy Bunny! Fluffy and pink and ever so cute, Fuzzy was everyone's favourite.

Fuzzy tied a new ribbon in her hair and carried the baskets of eggs to the edge of the garden. Everyone was still asleep. This would make her job quite easy thank goodness!
Fuzzy went about her business, hiding the eggs under bushes, behind hives, and anywhere else that she thought would be a good hiding place.

Soon, the baskets were empty and Fuzzy smiled and hugged herself at a job so well done. She knew her friends would be coming out to play soon so she hurried away so as not to be seen and decided to come back later.

Zubby was first to come out of his house.
"Oooh! Easter Sunday. Egg hunting time again!"
Bazzil came out of his house to see what Zubby was shouting about and soon, all of the Beezles were gathered in the garden.
"I'm excited!" squealed Bizzy.
"Not as excited as me!!" replied Zubby.

They split up and went their separate ways, hunting for eggs.
Buzzy was the first to find one.
"Yipee!" he called as he flew back to Mrs Bee's shop.
One by one the Beezles found an egg and pretty soon everyone had a nice chocolate Easter egg.
"I'm opening mine right now" said Zubby.
"Me too" replied Buzzy, then Bazzil, then Bizzy.

"I like when the easter bunny calls, but what does the Easter Bunny get? An egg?!" asked Buzzy.

"Well now" said Mrs Bee. "I think it would be a lovely surprise for the Easter Bunny if we all put a small gift in a basket and left it at the edge of the garden for the bunny to collect."
Everyone agreed and hurried home to find something to put in the basket for the Easter Bunny.

Bizzy brought some pink ribbons and a beautiful lace collar for the bunny to wear.
Bazzil drew a picture of a bunny with flowers and kisses.
Zubby brought a little jar of honey and Buzzy had brought some cookies.
They all placed their gifts in the basket and left it at the edge of the garden.
"I don't think the Easter Bunny will come by until it's dark" said Mrs Bee. "Easter Bunny is probably still out delivering eggs to all the other gardens"

Fuzzy was exhausted. She'd been to every garden in the area and had left eggs for all of the children who lived near Honeycombe Hill.
When Fuzzy arrived home, she had a tall glass of lemonade and a carrot and then she lay down in the warm sunshine for a nap.
It was very late when Fuzzy awoke, and she strolled down to the edge of the garden as it was such a lovely evening.
To Fuzzy's surprise there was a little basket with a tag on saying "Easter Bunny".

Fuzzy lifted the basket and peeked inside.
"Ooh! I wonder who has left me this? Ribbons and cookies and honey and a little picture!, how sweet!"

Fuzzy was delighted with her gifts and went home to put everything away.

Everyone had had such a lovely day and couldn't wait till next Easter for the Egg hunt game!
