Star Babies

by evelynsmith @ 31. 03. 07 - 18:34:03

Star babies, Twinkle and Sparkle,  lived in the sky at Honeycombe Hill.
They played at night when the sky was dark and the world was asleep.
Sometimes, if Mrs Bee or one of the Beezles were still awake, they would shoot across the sky, waving as they went.

One night Twinkle whizzed across the sky to meet Sparkle.
"Hiya Sparkle!" she called. "What are you doing tonight?"
"Well" Sparkle replied "I'm either going to dance across the blue velvety sky, or I might go swing from the moon. I haven't decided yet"

Sparkle was very small and very very bossy! Twinkle on the other hand was just a little bigger than Sparkle and very friendly.
Twinkle's favourite game was bouncing on the evening clouds. It was great fun! She could bounce really high now and wasn't scared at all.
Sparkle liked bouncing too, but her favourite game was swinging from the moon.

"Right" said Sparkle. "Lets zoom over to the moon and play at swinging for a while. Then if we get tired of that we can bounce on the night clouds"
"Oh alright then" replied Twinkle, and together they zoomed off to the moon.

"Hello mister Moon" the star babies called.
"Hello there!" Mister moon replied.
Mister moon was very nice. He had a cheery face and didn't mind at all that the girls liked to swing from him. They had little spiders webs which hung from his chin, and to this they had attached a piece of Rosy Rainbows torn skirt. It made a pretty cool swing indeed.

Together Twinkle and Sparkle climbed onto the swing.
"Weeeeee" called Twinkle and Sparkle giggled.
This was fun! They swung higher and higher until they loop de looped the moon, and even Mister moon began to chuckle!

"I want to bounce on the clouds now" said Sparkle.
They waved goodbye to Mister moon, and zoomed towards the few little evening clouds that were still in the sky.

BOUNCE BOUNCE BOUNCE!!
Hee hee giggled Twinkle. "This is like a trampoline in the sky!" "I love bouncing as high as I can!"

Mrs Bee could not sleep. She tossed and turned until eventually she got out of her bed and went to fetch a glass of water. From her little kitchen window she could see the moon shining brightly. She could also see two little Star Babies shooting up into the sky and back down again. Up and down they went and Mrs Bee smiled at how much fun they seemed to be having.
Mrs Bee opened the door of her house and stood in the garden for a better look. She cupped her hands to her mouth and called out "Hello Twinkle! Hello Sparkle!" and then she waved.

"Oh look Sparkle! There's Mrs Bee waving".
The Star babies waved back to Mrs Bee and carried on with their game.

Soon Twinkles and Sparkles began to get tired and Twinkles could see her mummy coming.
"I've got to go now Sparkles. My mum is on her way to fetch me. It's time for bed now"
"Good night then Twinkles" Sparkles replied. "I guess I'd best be off home now too".
The Star babies gave one another a cuddle and promised to meet again the following evening for some more fun in the sky.

Mrs Bee climbed back into her bed, with dreams of using the money from the fete.
She remembered that the funds were to be for a swing park for the Beezles and she was sure they would have as much fun as Twinkle and Sparkle.
Hmm. Tomorrow she'd make arrangements for the work on the park to begin, and with that she fell asleep. zzz zzz zzz

The Broken Rainbow

by evelynsmith @ 23. 03. 07 - 21:02:58

Bizzy was sitting at the window of her house with her chin cupped in her hands. She sighed.
"Oh Im so bored!".
It was very wet outside and all of the other Beezles were nowhere to be seen. Bizzy watched the rain drops trickle down the window. Some of the raindrops were having a race. Bizzy giggled to herself. Imagine! sitting here alone watching raindrops running down the window! Pah!

Bizzy got up from her seat and went to the cupboard for her raincoat.
She pulled on her wellington boots and tied the hood of her raincoat tightly
under her chin. There was no point in sitting here all day, she'd go out and have some fun stamping in the puddles.

As Bizzy stepped outside she noticed Zubby standing looking at the sky.

"Hey Zubby!" called Bizzy, "what are you doing?"
Zubby turned to look at Bizzy with his mouth hanging open and he pointed to the sky.
Bizzy looked up and almost fell back with surprise!
The rainbow above had burst its seams and hundreds of tiny little bubbles were falling from the sky!
Red bubbles,yellow bubbles,pink bubbles,green bubbles,orange bubbles,purple bubbles and blue bubbles too!
"Yikes!" cried Buzzy. He had just come out to join his friends as the rain had gone away now, and as the three friends stood in wonder looking at the burst rainbow they couldnt believe their eyes!

"How could this have happened?" asked Bizzy.
"I dont know, but it's pretty cool!" Buzzy replied.
"I feel sorry for the rainbow, look how sad her little face is"
The rainbow was named Rosy.
Rosy had been happily skipping the sky, minding her own business, when suddenly she caught the end of her skirt on a cloud that had been passing by.
It would have been fine if Rosy had taken her time, but as usual, she was in a hurry and had tugged so hard that her pretty skirt had ripped.
Now she'd have to wait for her mummy to come along and fix it.
Rosy was getting very impatient, but she could see that the Beezles were having fun with the bubbles falling from the tear in her skirt!

"Are you alright?" called Bizzy to Rosy. "I hope you don't disappear!"
Rosy waved and called back to Bizzy. "I'm fine, really. Just waiting for my mummy to come back and then she can fix my torn skirt"

Zubby ran around the garden trying to catch the purple bubbles.
Bizzy tried to catch the pink ones.
Buzzy was chasing the green ones and Bazzil who had just come out to play was kicking at the yellow ones.
This was so much fun! Rosy had never been torn before and everyone in the garden was squealing and laughing. The Beezles had never seen so many bubbles before!

Very soon Rosy's mum appeared. She wrapped herself around Rosy and pulled her gently across the sky.
The bubbles stopped.

"Oh botheration!" exclaimed Zubby. "I was having fun just then. I wish Rosy would come back and let some more bubbles fall"
"Now now Zubby" said Bizzy. "Rosy couldn't stay like that forever or she'd fade away. Lets play another game."
Suddenly there was a little giggle from the edge of the garden.
It was Fuzzy Wuzzy Bunny and she was merrily picking tiny little rainbow coloured daisys from the grass.
"Look whats happened" Fuzzy exclaimed. "the bubbles have made the daisies turn a very pretty colour"

Sure enough, the garden was full of pretty daisies in all of the colours of the rainbow. Everyone joined in, picking the daisies and gathering them into bunches. Bizzy put some in a yellow vase and placed the vase in the window of her little pink hive.

Zubby took a huge bunch to Mrs Bee's shop and she thanked him very much. "Where did you get these Zubby?" she asked.
"Oh Rosy Rainbow tore her skirt and the bubbles that fell landed on the daisies and made them change colour"
"Well, they are very very pretty indeed!" Mrs Bee smiled.

Today had been so different to any other day on Honeycombe Hill.
Everyone hoped that Rosy's mum had managed to fix the torn skirt and as the Beezles all headed home Rosy smiled and climbed into bed.
She'd given the garden a mini makeover, and that had made everyone happy.

A Trip to the Beach

by evelynsmith @ 14. 03. 07 - 10:20:44

Uncle McBuzz was polishing the mirrors on the Big Yellow Van. He polished until every single mirror shone brightly in the early morning sun.
Today, the Beezles were going on their first ever trip to the beach, travelling in their new van.

Further along the garden, where her little shop stood,Mrs Bee was packing a picnic into a very large wicker basket.
There were sandwiches and cookies, water and orange juice, cups and paper plates and a blanket for everyone to sit on.

Bizzy was singing a lovely song, she was very happy today as she and her friends were preparing to go to the beach. She packed into her little pink bag a towel, some suncream,a sunhat and her swinsuit. Bizzy was very excited! She looked out of the window of her hive and could see Zubby
heading towards the van.
Bizzy giggled. Zubby was far too early!! Uncle McBuzz had told everyone to meet at the Bluebell Patch, where the van was parked, at 9.00am. It was only 8.30am and Zubby was heading towards the van right now!! Bizzy knew that Zubby was very excited as he would be able to sit with his friends on the van and didnt have to worry about bumping into things.

Just then, Bizzy heard a knock at the door. It was Bazzil and Buzzy.
"Goodness!" cried Bizzy. "Everyone is very early indeed!"

Bizzy closed the door of her little house and she and her friends headed towards Bluebell Patch. They could hear everyone chattering and laughing as they reached the van. Everyone was there! Uncle McBuzz, Mrs Bee, Zubby, Fuzzy Wuzzy Bunny, Chewy Caterpillar and Philip Frog.

"Hello!!!" called Mrs Bee. "Right then, let's get everyone boarded and I'll do a head count. We don't want anyone going astray now do we?"
Mrs Bee counted as the Beezles and their friends boarded the van.
9 of them altogether, including Mrs Bee and Uncle McBuzz.

Everyone took a seat and put on their seat belts. Zubby had his nose pressed hard against the window, he didn't want to miss a thing!
Fuzzy was admiring the cute checked curtains that Bizzy had made all by herself. The curtains were blue and white check and were tied back with bright yellow ribbons.

"Here we go!!" shouted Uncle McBuzz as the van spluttered and coughed and then sprang to life. As the van trundled out of Honeycombe Hill everyone cheered and cried "Hoorah!!"

Bizzy began to sing a song and everyone joined in. This was so much fun!

Soon, they could all see the ocean in the distance and Mrs Bee told everyone it would not be long till they were at the beach.
The sun was very hot and Bizzy knew that she and her friends would have to put lots of suncream on and wear sunhats to protect their heads.

Uncle McBuzz parked the van and everyone piled out.
"Yay!" cried Zubby "I cant wait to build a sandcastle!"
They all walked onto the golden sand, which was lovely and soft. Fuzzy Wuzzy Bunny was giggling already, Fuzzy always giggled when she was excited!

Mrs Bee laid out the blanket and everyone sat down.
"I'm going in the water!" cried Buzzy. "Me too" said Zubby, and off they wandered to the waters edge.
"Oooh! It's cold!" squealed Zubby. "I know!" Buzzy replied.
Together they splashed and had fun playing with the beach ball, until they heard Mrs Bee call them for some lunch.

Zubby and Buzzy walked back to where their friends were sitting.
Bizzy and Fuzzy had built a beautiful sandcastle. Bazzil was decorating it with sea shells and seagulls feathers.
Chewy was reading his book in the shade of a little rock and Philip Frog was having a drink of orange juice.

Together the Beezles and their friends ate the sandwiches that Mrs Bee had prepared. They were having a lovely time! Bizzy was going round everyone putting suncream on their faces and shoulders, arms and legs, and everyone laughed when big blob of cream landed on Uncle McBuzz's sandwich!
This was a very special day indeed, and everyone hoped that there would be lots more trips in the Big Yellow Van.

Soon it was time to go home, and everyone made sure that they had collected all of their belongings and picked up all their litter.
Mrs Bee did a count as everyone boarded the van once more.
"Right! everyone here and counted!" she smiled.

On the journey home Zubby and Chewy fell asleep and the other Beezles looked out of the windows at the cows and the sheep in the fields.

As the van stopped at Bluebell Patch, back on Honeycombe Hill, everyone cheered and clapped.
Today had been the best day ever!!

The Big Yellow Van

by evelynsmith @ 11. 03. 07 - 14:17:02

Everyone on Honeycombe Hill was feeling a bit down in the dumps.

Nothing exciting had happened for a while and the Beezles were all a little bored.
Mrs Bee was in her shop having a quick look at the Weekly News, and noticed that there was a van for sale.
"Hmm" she said out loud. "I wonder". Mrs Bee rubbed her chin and sat thinking for a while.
She put on her coat and hat, grabbed her bag and set off out of Honeycombe Hill.

Bazzil saw Mrs Bee leave the shop and wondered where she could be going.Mrs Bee very seldom left the shop, she was always there!
Bazzil wandered across the grass to Bizzy's bright pink hive.

"Bizzy! Oh Bizzy!" he called.
Bizzy opened the door and smiled at Bazzil.
"Hello Bazzil! Come in!"
Bazzil went in to Bizzy's house and sat on a fluffy pink cushion.
"Mrs Bee has left Honeycombe Hill with her coat and bag and everything!" exclaimed Bazzil. "Do you think she'll come back?"
Bazzil's lip trembled. Mrs Bee was always there for them and it scared Bazzil to think that she may have gone forever.
"Now now Bazzil, don't get upset" said Bizzy. "I'm sure she'll be back soon. Could she have gone to visit another garden?"

Bazzil and Bizzy went outside. They could see Zubby playing in his garden and Buzzy was sweeping his path.

"Buzzy! Zubby!" called Bizzy. "Do any of you know where Mrs Bee has gone? Bazzil saiys he saw her leave with her bag and coat."

The Beezles gathered at Buzzy's gate.
"Let's go to the shop and see if she's left a note in the window" said Buzzy.
Together they walked to the shop, where indeed Mrs Bee had left a note in the shop window.
"Closed for one hour. Open again at 2pm"

The Beezles looked at one another in surprise. This was very strange indeed! Mrs Bee very seldom left Honeycombe Hill, and if she did, she always told everyone where she was going.
Bizzy began to frown. "I wonder if Uncle McBuzz knows where she has gone?"
Buzzy flew quickly to Uncle McBuzz's cottagehive. He knocked on the door and waited. No-one came. Buzzy knocked again, this time louder. Still no-one came. He peeked through the window and could see Uncle McBuzz'z slippers and a half eaten tart on the coffee table.
Where on earth could he be?

Buzzy flew back to where the other Beezles were waiting.
"Uncle McBuzz isn't home either!" said Buzzy.

By now the Beezles were beginning to think something was seriously wrong, when suddenly they heard a noise in the distance.
CHUG CHUG CHUG............
CHUG CHUG CHUG............
They alll peered ahead to where the noise was coming from and lo and behold there was a big yellow van coming towards them with Uncle McBuzz at the wheel!!!

The van stoppped and Mrs Bee and Uncle McBuzz climbed out.
Mrs Bee was smiling so much her face was beaming!
"Surprise!!" she called as she walked across the gravel.
"Oh Mrs Bee!" cried Bazzil as he threw himself against her. "I thought you had gone forever!!"

"WEll now! Here I am and we are going to have so much fun! I thought it was such a shame that Zubby  flies backwards, so now when we have a day trip we can all go in the big yellow van! No need for Zubby to be crashing into trees and flowers, he can sit in the van with all of you and we can all be together on our trips to the beach or funfair!"

The Beezles were all very excited! Uncle McBuzz said there were a few little things needing fixed on the van, and then they could start to plan their first ever trip!
They'd give the van a fresh coat of paint, Mrs Bee ad Bizzy would make nice new covers for the seats and everyone could help to wash the van and make it clean.

Zubby was almost crying with pleasure. He was so lucky to have such a thoughtful friend as Mrs Bee. He couldnt wait for the first ever trip in the Big Yellow Van! They could sing songs on the journey, eat honey oatcakes and best of all he wouldnt have to worry about bumping into things!

Everyone hugged Mrs Bee and thanked her for coming up with the idea of buying a van.
Bizzy said she was going to make some curtains for the van windows and Buzzy was already kicking at the tyres to make sure they were roadworthy.

Yes, today was no longer boring on Honeycombe Hill, and as the sun set the Beezles were all very busy with their Big Yellow Van.

Where do you think they will go?

See you all tomorrow!
