Ice Cream Day

by evelynsmith @ 28. 01. 07 - 19:49:57

The sun was shining in the garden at Honeycombe Hill.
Everyone was smiling and happy. The songbirds were singing and the flowers all looked so lovely.
Bizzy was in her garden weeding and Buzzy was lying on his tummy in the garden, reading a book.
Zubby was practising flying with his safety helmet on and wasn't having much success, but he didnt mind as he was having fun.
Bazzil was at the shop with Mrs Bee. He was helping her to do some tidying up and sweeping the path. Yes, it was very peaceful on Honeycombe Hill today. A beautiful day indeed!

Bizzy stood up and took a hankie from the pocket of her little pink and blue suit. "Oh! Goodness! I'm so hot! I could do with a nice cold drink of something refreshing"
"Me too!" said Buzzy. "Shall I go and fetch us some lemonade?" he asked.
"Hmm. Im not sure if I want lemonade" Bizzy replied "I think I would like something different"

Suddenly there was a noise in the distance. A noise that The Beezles had not heard for a very very long time!
It was Mr Izzi, the ice cream man!! Mr Izzi came from a place called Italy. He had come to the hills of Honeycombe many years ago and had a little yellow and blue van which he sold ice cream from.
Mr Izzi was very  nice ! He wore a little white apron and a white hat. He had a curly moustache and the biggest smile you have ever seen!

"Buzzy! did you hear what I just heard?" squealed Bizzy.
"Yes! race you!" laughed Buzzy.
Together they ran to the bottom of the garden where Mr Izzi had stopped his ice-cream van. There was already a queue! Mrs Bee was at the front of the queue, and behind her were Bazzil and Zubby. Then there was Phillip Frog, Fuzzy Wuzzy Bunny,Chewy Caterpillar and Uncle McBuzz.

"Oh no!" cried Bizzy "there won't be any ice cream left for us! There's so many people in front of us!"
Mr Izzi was busy sprinkling some hundreds and thousands onto Mrs Bee's ice cream cone. "Ah! my leetle friend! donta woory! There eeza plenty of da ice a da creamio for everyone!!"
Bizzy sighed with relief! She was sooo looking forward to having some of Mr Izz's ice cream, which was delicious! The best part was choosing what you would like on top of the ice cream.
Mrs Bee had chosen hundreds and thousands, which were like lots of tiny little coloured beads. Bazzil choose raspberry sauce. It was running down the side of the cone and he had to lick it very quickly or he'd have got in a mess!
Fuzzy chose a little chocolate flake, which Mr Izzi stuck on the top of the ice cream. Fuzzy was giggling with excitement! "Oooh" I dont know wath to eath firthst!"

Eventually everyone had been served, and they all stood in the warm sunshine chatting and licking the ice cream cones.
"It's lovely to see you Mr Izzi" said Uncle McBuzz. "Will you be back again tomorrow?"
"Ah" said Mr Izzi "Eef the suna da shine eez here I be back for another day. Eef the raina da come, then I no be here. You likea ma ice a da cream?"

Everyone laughed. Mr Izzi was very funny and he made funny faces when he asked questions!
"Yes Mr Izzi, we all love your ice cream!!" the beezles cheered.

Mr Izzi drove his little van away, playing the tinkly tune that let everyone know he was near.

"Ah! I love warm sunny days and ice cream"sighed Zubby. He was lying on his back in the shade of the trees, and had thoroughly enjoyed his ice cream, which had honey syrup on top.

Everyone agreed that Mr Izzi was a very nice man, and that they all enjoyed his ice cream cones. The Beezles hoped it would be sunny again tomorrow!!!!

Snowflakes and laughter!!

by evelynsmith @ 25. 01. 07 - 23:19:33

It was a very dull morning on Honeycombe Hill. The sky was grey and there was a chill in the air.
"Looks like snow" said Mrs Bee.
"Snow?" answered Bizzy. Bizzy was sitting in Mrs Bee's shop,on a little chair at the window. She had her chin cupped in her hands and her nose pressed against the glass.
"What's snow Mrs Bee?" asked Bizzy.
"Well" said Mrs Bee "snow comes from the sky. When the air is very cold, the rain turns to snow on its journey from the sky to our garden."Mrs Bee smiled to herself. It had been a very long time since it had snowed on Honeycombe Hill! Now that she thought about it, most of the Beezles would never have seen the snow. Oh how she hoped it would snow! She could just imagine her little friends delight at seeing the snowflakes fall from the sky.

"What does it look like? What colour is it? Is it hard? Is it soft?" asked Bizzy inquisitively.
Mrs Bee laughed out loud. "Oh Bizzy! you're so inquisitive, and that's good! Well, snow is white, and soft, and looks like little feathers, you know, like when you have a pillow fight and the pillow bursts?"
Bizzy's eyes were wide and round. "Really!" she squealed. Bizzy pulled on her coat and ran to Buzzy's house to tell him about this wonderful thing called "snow".
"SNOW!" cried Buzzy. "I've never seen it. You must have got it wrong. How can cold icy feathers fall from the sky?"
"Mrs Bee told me!" cried Bizzy. "She said it was white and soft and cold and I bet it looks lovely!"
"Hmm" said Buzzy "Im not sure about this Bizzy. I'll believe it when I see it!".

Bizzy skipped to her little pink hive. She took off her coat and hung it on the peg. She took off her wellington boots and stood them on the floor next to where she had hung her coat. Then, she sat on her bed swinging her legs and thinking about snow. Bizzy would love to see the snow.Oh how she wished it would snow!

Bazzil and Zubby were clearing out the cupboards in Zubby's hive.
"Crikes!" said Bazzil, "I've never seen so many honey pots in one place!"
Zubby blushed. It was true, he loved honey sooooo much! He always meant to return the pots to Mrs Bee, but had never quite got round to it.
Together they stacked the pots outside Zubby's hive. There were 24!!!
Just as they were beginning to clean the cupboard, they heard Buzzy whistling as he came to the door.
"Hello!, anyone there?" called Buzzy.
Zubby and Bazzil went to the door. "Hiya!" said Buzzy "what are you two up to now?"
Bazzil showed Buzzy the empty honeypots and Buzzy said he'd help to take them to Mrs Bee's shop.
They loaded the pots into a wheelbarrow and off they set to the shop.
Mrs Bee was very pleased indeed!
"Why thankyou all so very much!" she exclaimed.
"I'm running low on honeypots, these will be very useful"

"Mrs Bee,Bizzy told me that there was something called "snow" and she said you'd told her it falls from the sky, is she telling fibs?"
Mrs Bee shook her head. "No, not at all! Bizzy is correct, and if you look out of the window right now you will see what she meant"
Buzzy,Bazzil and Zubby turned round and looked out of the little shop window.
"WOW!!!" shouted Buzzy "Look at that!"
They all rann out into the garden, and sure enough, the sky looked like it had burst it's pillow and lots of snowflakes were  swirling round in the air.
"Yipee! it tastes like water!" shouted Bazzil.
Buzzy flew quickly to get Bizzy, but she was already on her way!
"Look! look! look at the sky!" called Bizzy.
Everyone was laughing and trying to catch the snowflakes as they fell.
Zubby was running around with his tongue out, letting the snow melt as it landed.
Mrs Bee was handing everyone mittens to keep their hands warm.
The snow was falling faster and faster and thicker and thicker, and soon the Beezles were crunching it beneath their feet. Bazzil and Buzzy flew quickly home to get their wellington boots, and when they got back everyone helped to make a giant snowman. Mrs Bee showed them how to roll the snow and then she gave them a carrot for the snowmans nose and an old scarf to tie round his neck. The Beezles gave him a name. They called him  Mr Snowman and used stones on his tummy for buttons.
Everyone was very happy and excited! Snow was GREAT! They were having so much fun and although their feet and hands were a little cold, no-one seemed to care.
"Wee hee!" called Bizzy as she slid down the garden on a little sledge.
This was so much fun! Mrs Bee told them all that they shouldn't stay out too long else they might all catch a cold. The Beezles all had runny noses and red rosy cheeks, and today was the best day they had ever had!

Do you like the snow boys and girls?

Zubby gets Flying Lessons!

by evelynsmith @ 14. 01. 07 - 19:34:24

zubby-smallerThe sun had yet to come out to play in the little garden of Honeycombe Hill. Even the songbirds who wake the Beezles up each morning, are still sound asleep.
The only noise that can be heard is the buzzing of a beezle, but who could it be?
If any little boys or girls were listening, they would know that it was Zubby! Zubby flies backwards and sounds like this :zzzb! zzzb! zzzb!

Today Zubby has his first flying lesson. He wants to fly like all of the other Beezles because flying backwards can be very dangerous! Zubby is always bumping into things like trees and flowers and toadstools!
"Oh dear, oh dear, I'm so nervous!" Zubby said to himself.
"Why did I agree to do it? I haven't slept all night and I just know I'll get it all wrong... everyone will laugh at me...I wish I wish I was like all of my friends, why oh why do I have to be different?" he wondered.

Just then Zubby hears the happy sound of the songbirds. It's time to go to the village shop and get his surprise present. All of the other Beezles asked Mrs Bee to get something especially for Zubby, but he has no idea what it might be. Can you guess what it is?

"Good morning Mrs Bee. I'm here to collect my surprise present" Zubby said with excitement.
"Good morning Zubby, are you nervous?" Mrs Bee asked.
"Nervous? I didn't sleep all night!" yelled Zubby.

Mrs Bee handed Zubby his present and told him not to worry. Zubby pulled the brightly coloured wrapping paper from the strange shaped object. Have you guessed what it might be?

"It's a beautiful purple safety hat!" exclaimed Zubby with a smile.

Mrs Bee nodded. "We thought it might make you feel safer if you had a safety hat on"

"Thankyou so much!"said Zubby "I didn't know you all cared so much. I think my first flying lesson might be fun after all!"

As Zubby made his way through the garden to the flying school, he wondered why he hadn't thought of getting a safety hat before now. It was much less painful when he bumped into things!

As Zubby approached the Flying School he is surprised to see all of the other Beezles waiting for him to cheer him on! All of his friends were there; Bizzy and Buzzy, Uncle McBuzz and even Bazzil!
"Thanks for my present everyone!I'm sure it will help me!" Zubby giggled as he chapped his new safety hat with his chubby little fist.
"Go on Zubby! We know you can do it!" everyone cheered as Zubby lined up at the starting line. His heart was racing so fast he thought it might burst!

"Oh please please please let me make it to the finish line" said Zubby.
The flying instructor reassured Zubby and gave him some advice.
"Now now young Zubby, don't be nervous. I will be right beside you all of the way. Look straight ahead and keep your eye on the finish line"

As Uncle McBuzz fired the starting pistol Zubby almost jumped out of his clothes! He got so confused that he spun round and round almost crashing into the instructor!
It all starts to go horribly wrong as he zooms and zooms and spins up and down, round and round like a merry go round. Zubby was getting very dizzy!
He could see the faces of all of his friends going round and round and realised that the instructor was yelling for him to go back.
Zuuby managed to spin round and fly backwards to where the instructor was standing.
"Climb on my back Zubby" said the instructor.
Zubby climbed up onto the instructors back and could actually see where he was going! What fun!  Zubby lets go and tries to do it himself, and crashes down to the ground bumping his head!

"Where am I? why are there stars flashing round my head?" Zubby whimpered.
Zubby looked at all the faces around him and could see that everyone was worried. No-one was laughing.

"Are you alright Zubby? Just as well you had your safety hat on! Let me help you up"Mrs Bee said softly.
"Sorry everyone... I let you all down.." Zubby sobbed.

"Dont' be a silly Beezle!" said Mrs Bee "don't you know that we all love you just the way you are? If you fly backwards it doesn't matter, at least you get to where you want to go!"

"Yes Mrs Bee!" cried Zubby "You're right! So I'm different and it doesn't matter! I am a Beezle and I can FLY!" Zubby yelled.

As Zubby flew off into the distance his screams of delight could be heard throughout the garden.
"Weeeeeeeeeeee! Look at me everybody! I 'll bet no-one else can fly backwards!"

Everyone laughed and cheered! At least Zubby was a happy little Beezle, even if he did fly backwards!

The Sleepover

by evelynsmith @ 13. 01. 07 - 14:48:16

It was Saturday night at Honeycombe Hill, and tonight was going to be such fun!
Bizzy was hosting a sleepover in her house, and Bizzy's sleepovers were always great!
She had her own little bed that she slept in every night, but Bizzy also had a spare room with two sets of bunk beds. This meant that she could have FOUR friends to sleep over!

She also knew that Mrs Bee would be coming to read them all their bedtime story, but none of her friends knew this, it was going to be a surprise!

Everyone began to arrive about 6 o'clock. There was Zubby, who had brought with him some snacks of mini-honey pots, and Buzzy who had brought some board games to play, and last but not least there was Bazzil, who had brought some comics.

As they all settled down to play a board game, Bizzy told them all that she had a surprise for them.
"Oooo! what is it?" asked Bazzil.
"Well" said Bizzy " you'll all just have to wait and see!"

Bizzy and her friends were having alot of fun at the sleepover. They were having a pillow fight now!
"What's that noise?" asked Buzzy.
"What noise?" said Bizzy.
"There it is again! There's someone at the door!"

The Beezles all went to see who was knocking at the door, and there was Mrs Bee!

mrs bee
"Oh let me in!" she cried "its very windy out here!"

Mrs Bee took off her coat and hat and sat in a chair at the table.
"Well, I hope you have all been behaving yourselves!" she said.
"We have! we have!" shouted the Beezles.
"Right then, everybody brush your teeth and get into bed, for tonight I am going to tell you all a story" she smiled.

"YAY!" shouted everyone. Mrs Bee had a book from when she was a little girl, and the stories in this book were really great!.

Everyone snuggled under the covers of their own little beds and Mrs Bee began to read.

"Once upon a time, a long time ago, there lived a little Eskimo girl.
Her name was Oona, and she lived in an igloo with her pet seal Blub.
Oona's igloo was made from ice. She wore a big white jacket which was very very padded and cosy, and it had a big hood with white fluffy fur round the edge. When Oona wore her hood up, you could hardly see her little face! Oona had black hair, cut in a fringe and it reached her shoulders.Blub the seal had become her friend and they went everywhere together! Blub was white and grey and always had a silly grin on his face. One day, Oona and Blub went fishing. They walked over the icy waters till they came to a small hole. Oona had a little fishing rod, which she used to catch fish with.
Oona lowered the fishing line into the hole, and she and Blub sat patiently waiting for a fish to catch. Eventually, Oona felt the fishing rod tugging and she pulled sooo hard that she almost fell over! They had caught a fish! Hooray! Oona and Blub set off for home. Blub liked fish and so did Oona. When they arrived back at Oona's igloo they cooked the fish and ate it from a shell with their fingers. "Did you enjoy that Blub?" asked Oona. "Yum!" said Blub and rubbed his tummy. Oona laughed. Soon it would be time for bed and they would wrap up in sheepskin blankets and be warm and safe from the icy cold wind. As they settled down to sleep, Oona heard a noise. What could it be? Oona lay very still, listening till she heard it again!
"Blub!" cried Oona "did  you hear that noise?"
"Yes I did!" replied Blub. "lets look and see what it is!"
Together they crept to the igloo door and peeped out. It was very windy and there was snow everywhere! Then Oona saw a shape in the distance. It was Pop, the polar bear!
"Oh Pop!" cried Oona, "you gave us a fright!"
Pop said how sorry he was, and told them to go back to bed.

Oona and Blub went back to sleep and in the morning they planned to have another adventure. Can you guess what it will be? "

Mrs Bee put the book down, and tucked everyone in. The Beezles had all fallen asleep during the story!

Honeycombe Hill Fete

by evelynsmith @ 12. 01. 07 - 19:54:07

zubby-smalleruncle mcbuzzmrs beebuzzy-smallerbizzy-smallerbazzil-smaller

Today the Beezles were holding a fete.
It was a beautiful sunny day and the songbirds were singing high up in the trees.

The Beezles had all been talking about the Summer Fete for weeks now!  Uncle McBuzz had been cutting the grass. He'd taken off his little tartan hat and his jacket, he'd rolled up his sleeves, and now he was using his hankie to wipe the sweat from his head.

"Goodness! It's a very hot day today!" said Uncle McBuzz.

Mrs Bee brought Uncle McBuzz a tall glass of water with ice.
"thankyou very much Mrs Bee!" said Uncle McBuzz. "How are you getting on with the display?"

Mrs Bee had been setting up a large table to display all the things for sale.

"Oh the table looks lovely if I say so myself!" replied Mrs Bee.

Bizzy was cutting flowers and putting them into little bunches.
She had bluebells and daisies, pansies and violets, and she had even tied little ribbons around each bunch. They looked ever so pretty!
Bizzy sang as she worked. She loved to sing!
"tra la la, la la la" sang Bizzy.

Buzzy had been helping Uncle McBuzz to tidy up the cut grass.
He'd also been helping Mrs Bee to put everything out on the table.

There were little cakes with pink icing and silver balls on top, honey oatcakes, strawberry jam, lemon flavoured honey in little pots with red lids on, and BEST of all there were lime and raspberry lollipops!!
Buzzy went to see if he could help Bizzy. She had been very busy today, tying the flowers with pretty ribbon and putting all the little bunches into her basket.

"Hello Bizzy" said Buzzy."Need any help?"
"Oh hello there!" Bizzy replied. "Thankyou Buzzy, I could do with some help carrying this basket,it's quite heavy!"

Together they carried the basket to where Mrs Bee had set up the table.
"I think we should leave the basket right there" said Mrs Bee as she pointed to the grass at the edge of the table.

"Oh Mrs Bee! everything looks lovely!" said Bizzy. "Where's Zubby? and where's Bazzil?"

Bazzil had decided to play a trick on Zubby. He had tied the handle of Zubby's little hive door, to the fence outside. It meant that when Zubby tried to open the door, it wouldn't open!
Bazzil was always up to no good! He was a naughty Beezle!!
He giggled and giggled as he could hear Zubby struggling with the door.
"Oh bother!" said Zubby as he sat on the floor. His door was jammed and he was stuck inside! Then Zubby had a thought "I know!, I'll open the window and fly out!".

Zubby opened the window and flew out. As all you boys and girls know, Zubby can only fly backwards, and as he flew out of the window he bumped right into Bazzil who was standing  at the gate.
"OUCH!" shouted Zubby
"OUCH" shouted Bazzil.

Zubby realised what Bazzil had done and began to laugh.
"You! I might have known! Now let's get a move on, we've got a fete to go to!"

Off they went and as they arrived at the fete, they could see that it was already very busy. There was Chewy Caterpillar, Philip Frog, Fuzzy Wuzzy Buzzy, Buzzy and Bizzy,Mrs Bee and Uncle McBuzz, the songbirds and there were visitors from the other gardens too!
"We'd better hurry !" said Bazzil "otherwise there'll be nothing left!"

Zubby managed to get the last of the lollipops and of course two pots of honey! He loved honey! He could see Fuzzy with her little shoppping trolley and it looked full to bursting! There were flowers sticking out of the top of the trolley, and he could just see the lids of some honey pots.

Everyone was having fun, talking and laughing, eating and drinking, until eventually there was nothing left to sell!

Mrs Bee counted up all the money.

"Ahem!" she said. everyone quietened down "today at this fete we have a grand total of Fifty-two pounds and 20 pence!"

Everyone gasped! That was indeed a very large sum of money.

"This money will be used for activities on Honeycombe Hill, and possibly a swing park" said Mrs Bee.

Everyone clapped. A swing park would be great!

As the sun went down on Honeycombe Hill the Beezles and their friends all snuggled down to sleep.

Today had been a great day and the fete had been very good. it wouldn't be long till the next time!

THE HOLE (For Mackenzie)

by evelynsmith @ 12. 01. 07 - 14:05:10

chewy caterpillarChewy Caterpillar liked to read books.
He read books all day long and the only time he didn't read was when he was chewing on the grass or in his bed sleeping.
The Beezles didn't see very much of Chewy, he didn't come to the garden very often. Chewy liked to read in the shade of the trees,so he stayed on the edge of the garden most days.

One day, all of the Beezles were gathered at Mrs Bee's little shop. Mrs Bee had put some tables and chairs outside her shop for her friends to sit on.
The Beezles liked to sit and chat whilst drinking lemonade and eating cookies.

Suddenly, the songbirds appeared and they were all shouting at the same time. "Hurry!Hurry! oh please hurry! Chewy Caterpillar has fallen down a hole and we can't get him out!!!"

Everyone ran to the edge of the garden. There was indeed a very big hole, right next to the rhubarb patch. They all stood round the edge of the hole looking down at poor Chewy, who had got stuck at the very very bottom of the hole!

"Don't worry Chewy!" called Buzzy, "we'll get you out of there somehow!!"
Chewy looked very scared indeed! The Beezles didn't know how to rescue him. The hole was quite deep, and no-one could think of what to do.

Just then, Mrs Bee appeared. "I know of a little boy who lives over the hedge. Do you think we could send someone over there to ask him if he could help?"
"Oh yes! Mrs Bee" said Bizzy. "I think I've heard him playing and his mummy calls him Mackenzie"

Buzzy and Bizzy flew over the hedge, while Zubby,Bazzil and Mrs Bee stood at the hole, comforting Chewy and telling him it wouldn't be long till he was rescued.

Mackenzie was in his garden playing with his toys.
When he saw Buzzy, he stood up and smiled.
Buzzy quickly told him what had happened, and Mackenzie ran into the house and told his mummy that he needed to save Chewy. He showed his mummy where he was going and then he went to his toy box and got a torch and a rope.

Mackenzie was a very clever boy indeed. He knew that he had to tell mummy and he knew that the hole would be dangerous. He couldn't go down in the hole himself or he might get stuck too!!

Quickly they all ran back to where Chewy was stuck.
"Hold on Chewy!" shouted Mackenzie "I'm going to save you! don't worry!"

Mrs Bee was very pleased that Mackenzie was here, otherwise Chewy would be stuck forever!

Mackenzie tied the rope in a loop and threw the loop into the hole. He held on tight to the other end of the rope.

"Okay Chewy"said Mackenzie "tie the rope round your waist and hold on tight!"

The Beezles all stood in a line next to Mackenzie and together they pulled and pulled and pulled at the rope.
"one, two three PULL!" cried Mackenzie.

Suddenly Chewy's Head appeared at the top of the hole.
"One more pull and that should do it!" said Mackenzie.
They all pulled on the rope again, and then there he was! Chewy lay on the grass with the rope round his waist.
"Oh thankyou Mackenzie! you are my hero!" said Chewy.

Everyone thanked Mackenzie very much for all his hard work and Mackenzie said "oh that's alright, I like to help!"

"How did it happen?" said Zubby "how did you manage to fall down a hole?"

"Well, I was reading my book" said Chewy "and I wasn't looking where I was going"

Everyone learned a lesson that day on Honeycombe Hill.

Remember to look where you are going!

Chewy gave Mackenzie his rope back and Mackenzie went home to his mummy.

"He's a very nice boy" said Mrs Bee, and all of the other Beezles agreed.

The Den

by evelynsmith @ 11. 01. 07 - 17:50:04

buzzy-smaller

Buzzy was bored.
There was nothing to do today and the clouds were making the sky all dark and horrid. He was sure it was going to rain!
His friends were no-where to be seen, and Buzzy knew that they were all probably staying inside because the skies were grey.

"oh honeypots and jam jars!" said Buzzy "Im sooo fed up,what can I do to keep myself busy?;

Suddenly Buzzy had a thought. He'd build a den! Yes! that's what he'd do! He'd build a den and then go and get his friends to come and play in the den.
That way, if it rained, they could still be outside , but under cover!
"Yay! "thought Buzzy, "I'm so clever!"

Buzzy flew to the bottom of the garden, as far as he could away from the hives and Mrs Bee's shop.
There were lots of shrubs and bushes and places to build his secret den.
He got some twigs and began to stack them on top of one another. He did this until he had made a little floor for the den.
The he flew back to his hive.
"Now where oh where did I put those old blankets?" said Buzzy out loud.
He looked in his little drawer, and under his bed, he looked in his cupboard and out in his shed, and there at last were his old blankets.
Some of them were a bit dirty but it didn't matter!
Buzzy gathered them up and put them in his little bag. It was the bag that belonged to his bicycle. He'd taken it off one day and hadn't put it back on again.

Buzzy hurried back to the bottom of the garden., He pulled out the first blanket and pegged it to the green bush. Next, he stretched the cover over and pegged it to the yellow bush.
Tah dah! Buzzy had made his very own little den.
Suddenly the rain began to fall. PLOP! PLOP! plop plop plop.
The rain was falling quite heavily but Buzzy was snug in his little den.
"Teehee!" he thought. "this is great! now what could I get next?"

Buzzy flew as quickly as he could back to his little yellow and green hive.
On the way there he saw Bizzy at her window. Bizzy waved and Buzzy waved back.

"What on earth is Buzzy doing out in all this rain?" thought Bizzy.
She watched at the window to see what Buzzy was doing and when she saw him hurrying back out of his hive, with his little rucksack on his back, Bizzy could not wait to find out what Buzzy was up to.

She pulled on her wellies and her little pink mac,and she tied the hood as tight as she could under her chin.
Bizzy hurried as it was very very wet indeed! She stamped on a puddle and it splashed all over!
When Bizzy got to the bottom of the garden she could see nothing.
"Buzzy! where are you!?" she called.
Buzzy giggled. She'd never find him! He peeked out and could see Bizzy looking all around her.
"Over here!" he shouted.
Bizzy spun round but Buzzy had dissappeared.
"oh beehives!" said Bizzy. She was getting rather cross. As Bizzy was about to leave, Buzzy came out from his den and called on her.
"Come and see what Ive got!" said Buzzy.
He took Bizzy over to the edge of the bushes and pushed them aside, and there was his little den.
"Oooo! " said Bizzy "this is great!"
Buzzy opened the rucksack and brought out some honey oatcakes and milk and together they had a rainy day picnic. It was great fun!

"Maybe tomorrow if it rains again we can gather all of our friends and play in the den" said Buzzy.
"oh yes!" said Bizzy "and then we wouldn't need to be stuck indoors."

Together they tidied up and by this time the rain had gone away.
They stoppped at Mrs Bee's shop to tell her about the den and Mrs Bee laughed "oh Im gald you told me! otherwise I wouldn't be able to find you, and we can't have you getting lost now, can we?"

Mrs Bee waved goodbye to Buzzy and Bizzy.
Those Beezles were always up to something!!

Baby Duckling

by evelynsmith @ 10. 01. 07 - 20:04:36

It was another lovely day on Honeycombe Hill.
Everyone had gathered round the lily pond, where there was lots of tall flowers and long grass.
There were trees and shrubs and a little wooden garden bench for anyone to sit on and watch the butterflies.
"What can it be?" asked Bazzil.
"It's a very strange noise indeed!" said Bizzy.

They all listened very carefully and could hear a very quiet sound coming from the long grass.
"I'll go and have a look" said Buzzy.
He walked round the lily pond and pushed his way through the long grass.
"Can you see anything?" shouted Bizzy
The Beezles all stood in a little group chattering and wondering what the noise could be.
It sort of went something like this "quack quack quack"
Can you guess boys and girls what it could be?

Suddenly Buzzy appeared from the long grass and goodness me, he had a little duckling in his arms!!

"Look what Ive found!!" called Buzzy.
Everyone ran to where Buzzy was standing, holding the little duckling.
"Oh the poor little thing!!" cried Bizzy "he looks very frightened!"

They all went to see Mrs Bee. She would know what to do.

Mrs Bee looked surprised when everyone came into her little shop.
"Oh Goodness me! what have we here?"
"Oh Mrs Bee! we found this little duckling lost and crying in the woods by the lily pond! We think he has lost his mummy!" said Buzzy.

The little duckling was snuggled into Bizzys arms.
He had stopped shivering and was beginning to smile a little.
Mrs Bee took the little duckling from Bizzy and sat him on her lap.
"hello little duckling, can you tell us where your mummy is?"
The little duckling began to cry again.
"Ive lost my mummy and I dont know where to look for her!" he cried.
"Now now then, dont you worry! We will help you to find her and then you'll feel much better"

Everyone set off into the garden, looking everywhere for Mrs Duck.
"Mrs Duck! Mrs Duck" everyone called.
Bizzy looked over the hedge.
Zubby looked behind the trees.
Bazzil looked under the flowers.
Buzzy flew very fast round the whole garden, and still they couldnt find Mrs Duck.
"Whatever shall we do?" asked Bizzy.
"Well" said Mrs Bee "I think we should all go back to the shop, have a little lunch, and then we will call on the songbirds to fly further away from the garden to see if they can find Mrs Duck"

Little duckling couldnt eat any lunch at all. He was so upset and didn't feel like eating at all. Oh how he wished he had stayed by his mummy's side. If only he hadnt wandered off to look at the ladybirds!

Buzzy did a special whistle that only the songbirds would understand, and soon they all came together in a beautiful array of colour.
"whats wrong?" asked the songbirds.
"Well, we need your help today"said Mrs Bee "this little duckling has lost his way and cant find his mummy anywhere! Could you please fly over the hedge to Farmer Freds and see if she is there?"

The songbirds flew as fast as they could. Little duckling was getting tired and hungry and he just wouldnt eat a thing till they found his mummy.

At last, the songbirds returned.
"We've found her! We've found her! she's on her way now!!" they called.

Little duckling was sooooo happy!
"mummy! mummy!" he cried.
"Oh duckling!" said his mummy "Im so glad Ive found you, but you shouldn't have wandered away from my side!"
"I know mummy, and Im very very sorry" said little duckling.

Mrs Duck hugged him tightly and thanked the Beezles for taking care of her little boy duckling.

Everyone waved goodbye, and told Mrs Duck to come and visit some day soon. Mrs Duck said that she would, and she'd bring all of her little ducklings to play at Honeycombe Hill.

Uncle McBuzz tells a story

by evelynsmith @ 09. 01. 07 - 10:00:05

uncle mcbuzz

Everyone in the garden was feeling happy.
Today was Sunday, and Uncle McBuzz quite often came to visit on a Sunday.
All the Beezles loved Uncle McBuzz! He travelled to many countries and always had the most exciting stories to tell!
Uncle McBuzz wore a tartan suit and he had a little tartan hat with a pom-pom.
He had a red tie, and little green shoes and the jolliest face you have ever seen!

Mrs Bee was tidying up. There were always lots of jobs to do in her little shop. There were shelves to clean, and sacks of flour to tidy, pots of honey to put on the shelf and honey oatcakes to bake.
The Beezles all loved honey oatcakes!!

Bizzy was in her garden. She was lying on a buttercup singing a lovely song. The songbirds were up in the trees listening and sometimes joining in. It was indeed a lovely sound.

Zubby was at the end of the garden practising flying. He couldnt understand why he flew backwards! He tried so many times but flying properly just didnt work! He could remember where most of the trees and flowers, toadstools and hives were, but sometimes he bumped right into them!!

Buzzy was in the park with Bazzil. He was trying to teach him how to whistle. Bazzil looked funny! He pushed his lips forward and blew very hard but no whistle came out! Oh dear! Bazzil was getting very annoyed!!

"Everyone! everyone!" called a little voice from the woods. It was Fuzzy Wuzzy Bunny.
"Uncle McButh ith here! He'th going to tell uth a thory!!!!" squealed Fuzzy!

Everyone sat on the grass, while Uncle McBuzz made himself comfy on the rocking chair that Mrs Bee had lent him.

"Well hello my little bumblekin friends! Today Im going to tell you all a story about my friends who live up in the sky" Everyone looked up, but there was nothing in sight.
"Oh there's no-one there just now, there may be some of my friends in the sky later on"

Uncle McBuzz began to talk and everyone was very very quiet.

"The Moon was a mallow, way up in the sky
The stars were like fairies, all twinkling by
The air was a blanket of velvety blue
And the rainbow just didnt know what to do."

"Oh no! " said the rainbow all juicy and bright
I cant skip the sky, for its too late at night!
And so rainbow slept with the sun and the rain
Until a new day had begun again"

"The man on the moon pulled the curtains wide
To let in the sun that was shining outside
While rainbow so happy was starting to hop
And there in his hurry he let the rain drop!

"Twas only a shower and Daisy was pleased
It dropped on her head and went up to her knees
She laughed at the buttercups shaking their heads
"That soon got us all jumping out of our beds!!!"

"And then came the sun with his big yellow smile
He stopped by the rainbow to ponder a while
"It's a beautiful day, Im so glad that Im here
And the rainbow was skipping the sky full of cheer

"Oh yes it is lovely! my colours are bright
"I have to enjoy! For it soon will be night!
And so there above in the sky they had fun
The juicy bright rainbow and the big yellow sun"

Uncle McBuzz sat back in his chair with a smile on his face. Everyone clapped and cheered! Uncle McBuzz told very good stories indeed!

The Queen Bee

by evelynsmith @ 08. 01. 07 - 23:59:26

mrs beeMrs Bee wiped her hands on her apron and sat down on her little rocking chair.
She held the letter in her hands and read it over and over again.

She couldnt quite believe what the letter said!

"Dear residents of Honeycombe Hill,
It has been a while since I visited you all, and therefore I will call upon you for a friendly visit on Saturday 20th May, at 12 noon"

Regards
Queen Bee

Mrs Bee couldn't think what to do next! She'd have to let the Beezles know that they were having a very important visitor!
"Oh goodness me!" said Mrs Bee
"There's so much to do! We'll need to tidy up, and bake some cakes, make fresh lemonade and a hundred other things!"

Just then Buzzy came by.
"Oh Buzzy! We are having a very important visitor! Tell everyone Queen Bee is visiting on Saturday!"

Buzzy stopped in his tracks! Queen Bee! He'd have to fly fast as he could and tell everyone to prepare for a very special visitor!

"Zubby! Bizzy! Bazzil! We've got lots to do! Queen Bee is coming to visit on Saturday and we have to get ready and make Honeycombe Hill a lovely place to visit" called Buzzy as he flew around the garden at 30 miles an hour!!!

Everyone was very excited! Queen Bee didnt visit very often, but she always gave the best garden a certificate of honour. Oh how lovely it would be if Honeycombe Hill got a certificate!

For the next three days, everyone in the garden was painting the doors of their little hives, tidying their gardens, and Mrs Bee baked enough cakes to feed an army!

Soon the big day arrived and The Beezles all put on their best clothes. Bizzy had some new ribbons for her hair, they were pink with little white daisies on them.
Zubby managed to get all his buttons to stay closed and he looked ever so smart!
Bazzil promised to be on his best behaviour and not to get up to any mischief.
Buzzy licked his hand and patted his hair, there was a bit of hair that always stood on end! but he managed to make it nice and flat so that he looked very smart indeed!
Chewy caterpillar had a new bow tie,Fuzzy Wuzzy Bunny had a fresh flower in her hair and Uncle McBuzz had a new tartan hat.
Everyone looked so lovely! and the garden was absolutely perfect.

At five minutes to 12, everyone gathered at Mrs Bee's little shop.
They all stood in a line waiting for Queen Bee to arrive.Bazzil could hardly contain himself and couldnt resist tugging at Bizzy's ribbons!
"Stop it Bazzil!! you promised to behave today!" said Bizzy.
Bazzil scuffed his toe in the dirt,"Oh I wish Queen Bee would hurry up! Im bored standing here in a line!"

Suddenly, Queen Bee appeared.

"Good afternoon Beezles, how are you all today?" asked Queen Bee.
Everyone answered at the same time "Fine thankyou!" and Zubby blushed as he was quite shy.

Queen Bee walked along the line and spoke to each and every Beezle. She was so lovely! She said that the garden was the best one she'd seen all day and handed Mrs Bee the "Best Garden" certificate.
Everyone was delighted that their garden was the best.
Mrs Bee brought out sandwiches and fresh cake with icing on top, jugs of lemonade and paper cups.
They all sat together and enjoyed the lovely food.
Zubby had TWO pieces of cake!!

Eventually, Queen Bee said that it was time for her to go. The Beezles all shook her hand and waved her goodbye.

"Oh what a lovely day today has been " said Bizzy as she hugged herself.
"Yes, quite!" said Mrs Bee.

"anymore cake?" said Zubby, and Mrs Bee told him off and said he'd be sick if he ate any more!!

"Maybe if we keep our garden nice and tidy we will get another certificate next time Queen Bee visits" said Uncle McBuzz. Everyone agreed.

Do you think the Beezles can keep their garden tidy?

I hope so!!

Bizzy Tidies The Garden

by evelynsmith @ 08. 01. 07 - 10:54:54

bizzy-smaller

The songbirds were singing, the sky was blue, the sun was shining brightly, and Bizzy had opened all of the windows in her little pink hive.
"oh what a lovely day for doing some cleaning in my hive" said Bizzy.

She dusted and polished until everything was shining like a new penny.
She cleaned under her bed, and under her chair, and it was there that Bizzy found the little white box.
"Oh goodness me! I forgot about this" said Bizzy.
She opened the box and squealed with delight. It was a special box of little treats that Uncle McBuzz had brought back from one of his journeys to another country far far away.
"Hmm" thought Bizzy "I know that the garden needs a good tidy up, and I know that I need some help.I wonder if Buzzy and Zubby and Bazzil would help in return for a treat from my box"

Bizzy skipped out to the garden. Her hive was one of several, all in a little higgeldy piggeldy row.
Zubby's hive was nearest. It was purple and had a little lilac door. His garden had quite alot of weeds!
Just a little further and there was Buzzy's hive. It was bright yellow with little windows which had green paint around them. Buzzy had a ball and a bat, a swing and a trampoline all lying on the grass around his little hive.
Then there was Bazzils hive. It was black with a yellow door. There were honey pots all over the ground and his gate was hanging off the hinges!!

"Goodness me!" said Bizzy "what a terrible terrible mess!"

Bizzy knocked at Zubby's door. She knocked at Buzzy's door too.
Then she knocked at Bazzil's door.
Her friends all came to see what the knocking at their doors was about.

"Good morning everyone! I wondered if you would like to help me to tidy up the gardens of Honeycombe Hill? Look at all the mess! There's things lying everywhere, and broken gates, deary me! We HAVE to tidy this up!"

The other Beezles looked at one another. Today was going to be hard work!!

Everyone gathered around and Bizzy gave everyone tasks to do.

"Buzzy, you are in charge of tidying up all the toys and honey pots"
"Bazzil, you are in charge of fixing broken gates"
"Zubby, you and I will work together, sweeping all the leaves and twigs and weeding your garden. Right everyone! Lets get started!"

As the songbirds sang and the sun shone, everyone was very busy indeed!

Zubby had already flown backwards into a tree stump,Bazzil had only fixed one hinge of the gate and Buzzy was zooming around like he was in a race!

As Bizzy swept the leaves to the side she saw Fuzzy Wuzzy Bunny pass by.

"Hello Fuzzy! where are you going today?" asked Bizzy as she leaned on her little broom.

"Hello Bithy. Im off to thee Phillip, he hath a very thore knee. He scrathped
it yethterday and it thill hurts" Fuzzy had a little lisp. She was very pink and fluffy with a little white tail. Fuzzy wore a daisy in her hair. She was only 4 years old and ever so sweet.

"Oh tell him I hope he feels better soon!" said Bizzy. "We are tidying the garden today,do you think it looks nice?"

"Oh yeth!" said Fuzzy "very nithe indeed!" Fuzzy waved goodbye and went on her way.

Soon, the work was done and Bizzy gathered her friends in her hive for a drink of cool lemonade.
"Well done everyone! the garden looks lovely now" smiled Bizzy.

Everyone nodded and agreed. Then Bizzy brought out the little white box that Uncle McBuzz had given her.

"I have a special treat here for everyone to thankyou for helping me in the garden today" Bizzy passed the box round and they all took a treat from it.

Zubby couldnt stop smiling! He liked treats!!

Soon it was time for everyone to go to bed.
"goodbye buzzy! and thankyou for helping" called Bizzy
"goodbye bazzil! and thankyou for helping"
"goodbye zubby! and thankyou for helping"

"Oh thats alright!" said Zubby "if you need me to help tomorrow just call and I will help you again.Remember to bring the white box though!"

Everyone laughed! Zubby liked treats!!

Zubby's Clothes Dont Fit!!!

by evelynsmith @ 06. 01. 07 - 19:44:02

Once upon a time, there was a little Beezle who ate too much.
He ate his breakfast and then he snacked.
He ate his lunch and then he snacked.
He had his dinner and then he snacked before supper, when of course, he snacked again.
He snacked all day long until one day he found his little suits no longer fitted him!

"Oh dear! Oh dear! whatever shall I do?" cried Zubby.
His little toes were squeezed into the feet of his suit. The buttons just would not fasten no matter how hard he tried, and the seams were almost bursting!

"Oh Zubby!" cried his friends "you have to stop eating so many snacks!" and so it began.
The Beezles made a promise to help Zubby in his quest to stop snacking.............

It was a lovely sunny morning on Honeycombe Hill. Most of the Beezles were still asleep and all that could be heard was the sweet song of the songbirds.
Bizzy woke and stretched her arms above her head.
"Oh what a beautiful day it is!"
"Im going to have a lovely time in the garden with my friends"
Bizzy suddenly had a thought. Her friend Zubby had been snacking so much that none of his clothes fitted properly!
Bizzy and Buzzy and Bazzil were going to try and help Zubby to stop from eating so many snacks.

Bizzy washed her face. She tied her hair in her favourite pink ribbons and put on a clean suit of baby pink and pale pale blue. She looked so pretty!
She'd go and fetch Buzzy and Bazzil and together they'd call on Zubby and they'd all have breakfast out in the sun.

"Zubby! oh Zubby! time to get up" called Bizzy.

Zubby awoke to the sound of his friends calling.
"Im sooooo hungry!" thought Zubby "Iwonder what I can have for breakfast. I could eat a million honey sandwiches and then another million too!" "I like honey! mmm mmm mmm!

Zubby rolled over and fell out of bed. THUD!! he landed in a heap on the floor.

"Hello Bizzy! Hello Buzzy! Hello Bazzil!" "I'll be right there!"
Zubby pulled on his little lilac and purple suit.
He pulled and he pulled till the buttons popped off and the seams creaked and groaned.
"Oh no! my suit has ruined and today is the first day that Ive not to eat snacks! oh what a horrid day this is going to be!"

Zubby opened the door of his little hive and peeked out. His friends were sitting on a circle of daisies, swinging their little legs and waiting for him to join them.<
